Converting stock HID to halogen headlights

Hello all, I have a 2003 CTS with stock HID lights, no washers. I'm in S. Florida and the lights get really discolored here. I've tried to bring them back, but the discloring is on the inside. It makes the car look really old. Anyway, replacing with stock HID headlamps looks like it would cost me $1300+! On the other hand, if I had regular halogens it would only cost me around $250! Does anyone know where to get replacement HID assy's on the cheap, or has anyone converted back to halogens? Thanks for the help, Jon

I would think you'd be able to buy just the lens/housing assembly from GM, and transfer the HID projector and high-beam bulb to the new housing. Can't imagine that they'd only sell the housing with the HID projector system, what if you get in a fender bender and crack the lens? Would be silly to have to replace the whole headlight system.
