Check Gas Cap Message followed by Check Engine Light

2007 Cadillac CTS
135000 miles

I recently made a 500 mile drive. I filled the gas tank myself and closed the cap. 1-2 nights later I received a "Check Gas Cap" message on my way to work followed by a "Check Engine Light". When I arrived, I tightened the cap. But, after 2 more days I still have a "Check Engine light". In addition, I had a receipt that advised me to have my lug nuts/bolts retorqued? Does anyone know if this will clear up itself or if I may need another gas cap? It does seem to be a little loose. I'm hoping that this is something simple, as I've just gotten this car fixed.

SES light check gas cap the is a evap code stored in PCM. Loose gas cap is common cause. Some Auto Parts stores will check and clears codes for free. Codes can self clear after several days of driving if condition is corrected. If correct cap was installed and message is still coming on, there is a different problem. There is no code for lug nuts. With stock OEM wheels IDK about having re-torqueing lug nuts, aftermarket wheels it's not unusual to re-torque 100-200 miles after wheels installed
