Change Oil Myself

RE: Change Oil Myself
The last time I went to the dealer for an oil change it was $36.99 for my Deville, that was second week of August. Why get yourself all oiled up for the sake of saving less than40 bucks ?

Or go to Jiffy lube, they will va*** the inside while they are at it. If you insist on doing it yourself you will need 2 ramps and blocks for safety, in addition to catch box for old oil and filter etc. Also be careful when replacing plug.I used to do this myself, just more of a inconvenience now.

RE: Change Oil Myself
It all Depends I think... I don't know if you use synthetic oil in the V6 2.8liter, but for my 3.6 Liter I use Synthetic Mobil 1. and just the five quart is $30.00, and the filter runs under $10.00... so there is $ 40.00.... I had the shops chage my oil and it ran me almost $80.00 @ Jiffy Lube, and thelast one was Pep Boys for $58.00.... So I find it cheaper to just change it my self, but then again I love working on my cars... and this wa very simple, just drain the oil @ the plug at the oil pan... and for me the filter is up top where I add my oil, and the cap screws right off, put a new filter, add the oil and reset the oil life on the dash... piece of cake..
