2014 CTS Whining
 

I recently bought a 2014 with 27k miles on it. Lately a whining sound has been coming from the driver side fender wheel.
My mechanic, who I suspect had better things to do, told me that the whine was part of the emissions controls system.
The car operates fine. Has anyone seen or heard of this?
