2011 Cadillac CTS4 Engine/Traction Control issue

3.0 42,000 miles, last oil change (Mobil1) was a month ago. Purchased the car 3 years ago when it only had 17k miles.
Took a 400-mile trip yesterday and I was nearly home when the engine light came on, as did the stabilitrac, and a scroll of warnings about 'reduced power' and I pulled off the highway as quickly as possible.
I have read some threads of Escalade issues with this being the throttle body, or a loose cap on the battery (positive attachment) that could make this happen, but other things were occurring. Had a revving noise coming from the exhaust, and the car moved, more or less lurched, like I had a flat tire (which I did not). Brake pedal was very unresponsive. Turned off the car, then back on and the trac control was fine, but engine light stayed on. Drove home 45-50 mph the last 20 minutes, and brakes were fine (had been driving highways 70+ mph for over 4 hours that day, and know an elderly couple had the car before me and never traveled long distance). Could it have just been the hard driving the car wasn't used to?
Never drove that hard or long in this car before, but never had this happen with any other automobile I have had.

You need to find out what code(s) are stored. Many auto parts store will check them for free, since car is roughly 6 years old I would have them check the battery too. That is also a freebee at some parts stores. I doubt that it was the long drive normally highway driving is much easy and engine runs cooler during I-state driving. There are issues with throttle bodies and it's connector. You could contact dealer and check if there are any special policies that would apply.

Suspect the battery
I've replaced mine a year ago. Electronics started acting goofy.
OK now. 2011 CTS4. 49,900 miles.
Running it hard won't hurt much.
My Garmin shows a 135 top speed on a previous trip thru northern AZ.
