2005 Cadillac CTS

So a buddy of mine has a 2005 CTS that's he's offered to me for $1,500. It's got 196,000KM on it, fresh electric blue paint job, tinted windows, and it's a Canadian-Spec base model. (Basically American-spec just with heated seats) But here's the catch:
He says the timing chain has came loose on it. Just wondering if I were to invest the small amount into this car, how much more would I have to invest on getting it fixed? I'd like to avoid dealership bs and try and figure out a low price. I've looked around and found some saying around $2,000+ for this type of thing.
Anyone got anything?

Oh and by the way it is the 3.6L under the hood with the 5-speed auto.

I don't know about the timing chain as my 04 has the timing belt it's a 3.2L but knowing the whole front end of the motor has to come apart for mine and they say you should replace the tensioners and water pump while in there The guy I have work on my CTS now has told me it'll cost me $700 - $900 depending on what he has to replace when he gets in there. For your car the timing gear set is around $227.00 through Advance auto parts and by seeing all the parts involved in replacing, I can see an easy $2000 for someone doing it for you.
