Soft top cover

Being new to Allante, just purchased a 92, I'm having difficulty getting the cover open to raise the soft top. The "Cover Open" lever has too much slop in the cable to release the latch, but even when I manually pull the cable from the center of the cover it won't release. Is there some other trick to get this latch to release, or some way to manually trip the release? Thanks for the help, this won't be the last time I ask for help. Bob Got it open, 260# in the trunk up under the top boot isn't pretty.

Actually it was the little plastic lever that trips the latch was broken so it couldn't trip the latch. The former owner had unbolted the latch and buggered up the release hole trying to get it out. So, the latch just hung from the cover but couldn't clear the fiberglass to lift. New part is coming from Allante Parts in Florida and all should good to go. Thanks for the interest. Bob

My experience with my '92 was that for a $60K MSRP car there is an awful lot of "chintzy plastic parts" that tend to break; seat back handles, visor mirrors, batt cable junction block, etc.

Still, nice rides!

Actually its an old version and made from the old time so material used in it is not very finest.Top cover may change by some other material but its expensive. So you have to take a chance on it.
