Wiz filter doesn’t fit
 

While replacing the transmission filter on my 72 eldorado I discovered that the wix filter doesn’t fit. There is a flange running around the unit that does allow the pan to seat. The previous owner stated he had similar problem and had to file the lip off. Since he was 90 years old I assumed he installed improperly. He was correct. Any suggestions
