I went to get the fluids changed out of my car when I bought it they said not to do the tranny fluid - at the dealership - they did the rest of them (coolant, brake) but not the transmission - should I go ahead and have them do it anyway?

I am pretty sure I have the old bullet proof 4T80-E in my '93

as i understand, dealers FLUSH ...

Hey, I did the coolant, with no flush - and the brake fluid - when I got the car, I was just wondering about the tranny fluid they didn't change out - so I guess that is a yes on changing out the transmission fluid at 60,000?

IF I was calling upon my wheels to do 100+ mph, or even just a few 6 sec runs, I be doing it even more often.
My harsh driving habits have me at around 25,000 .. cheap maint .. trani O.H. is what? $1,500 to $3,000 ?
Quick 30 min job, that i hear even a girl can do .. ohhh, forget it .. broken bits of nails are not friendly to gears.
Allantes take a bit longer since they are so damn low, i cant drive mine onto my ramps .. jacks only..

There is this practice that if one runs to the performance limits of a car, any car (at the track of course), BOTH engine oil AND trani fluids should be changed the following day. Some extend that to the POSI-traction gears and the transfer case gears when you have those (4x4).

There is nothing like silky clean fluid and new filters to extend the life of such a workhorse as a trani. IMHO.

The links were meant to address the Flush vs DRAIN.

Some cars (which I got) allow you to disconnect the line to the TRANI OIL COOLER (your '93 has none of that) and literaly pump/DRAIN much more than dropping the pan. However, your 4x4, may have one .. may.

the trani is bullet proof, the $40 plastic solenoids that shift it for you at the command of the computers .. NOT !
