95 Northstar OR 1995 4.9?
Hey guys, I'm new here and hope I can get some decent input on my latest project. I've owned several Cadillac vehicles throughout the years but this is my first experience with a N*. I recently picked up a 95 STS that had an electrical issue (what a nightmare ) and needed various minor repairs. Consequently, I pulled the powertrain out through the bottom as instructed in the FSM. No headgasket issues or other driveability problems whatsoever. My dillema is whether or not the do the Time-Sert fix while its out and get it out of the way, then put it all back in, or get a low mileage 4.9 powered deville and swap everything (engine, trans, electrical, etc.) necessary over. I know there is the power loss to contend with, but what do you think about servicability/reliability between the two? Cost is going to be almost exactly the same one way or the other and labor is my own, plus I could sell the N* afterwards. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! :) The big thing here is that I do ALL of my own work, so that is the major deciding factor here and I just don't know enough about the N* to make an informed decison yet. Thanks!
