i guess the law was changed right?
my 76 sedan deville obviously did not pass smog the guy whom tested it (long time friend of mine) said that it is running to rich and that i should get the carbuertor rebuilt in order to have it pass. I live in los angeles area. Any advice on where i should go, or if there might be somthing else i can do? or any comments you have that might help me out.

Hey New:  Just a thought, see if there is a retro fuel injection system that would fit your engine. A throttle body type or otherwise. This would still give you the power but easier on the pocket and you just might pass the test. gooood luck.........

This carb used a plastic type material for the float within the carb. Over the years the plastic would soak up gas, becoming heavier thus causing a high fuel level in the carb. Hence, running too rich. Short of replacing the carb, try 1 gallon of denatured alcohol with 5 to 8 gallons of gas in the tank when re tested. the alcohol produces oxygen as its being burned which should lean out the mixture. Its worked on the last 2 cars I've owned, and I live in Calif. as well.
