i wrote quoted section in 2003 - since then, the value of the cars have depreciated
substantially, the value of the parts have NOT.  several '90 to '92 are now selling in
the $6,000 to $8,000 range; the '87 to '89 are nearing $3,000 or less.  Several '93s
are now going for under $10,000..

what i find interesting is that today there are so many more Allantes being parted
on a weekly basis, many more parts are feeding less and less road worthy cars
and people are still bidding the prices to the 2003 levels - the MYTH of parts are
hard to find lives strong..

looking at the list, the hood, tail arrays and the bumpers go for less these days,
the grill & mini-covers for much more.

in the past 12 months i spotted at least 85 different Allantes being parted.
lets say a '87 or '88 blows a trani or has a ABS failure.  market value being around
$2,500 to $3,000, trani overhaul is around $1,800, ABS can run close to $1,000.
or a '93 blows a headgasket, repair at $3,500.

what is such a car worth in whole vs in parts?

Keeping a ‘92 in excellent condition and trying to sell it is no longer logical   ...

Some of these prices HAVE really been  paid for these parts, some are reasonable,
some of the high prices are feed by the MYTH ...

here are the reasons to sell the car in parts instead of whole:

Front bumper:       $3,000
Rear bumper:        $3,500
ABS pump:            $1,300
ABS:                     $1,000
hood:                   $2,500
tail light arrays:     $2,200
front lights:           $   200
DIC:                     $   300
BOSE set of 4:       $   500
hard top:               $1,500
4 wheels:               $   500
2 fenders/trunk lid: $   800
2 doors:                 $   500
misc switches:        $   500
e-modules             $   500
grill:                      $   300
seats:                    $   500
glass:                     $   250
minicovers:               $   150
maplight & visors:      $   250
boot cover:                $   150
engine/trani:              $   100
leftovers/ WEATHERSTRIP:$   500
                                   = = = =
total =====>               $20,000

ok, let's discount both  bumpers  by $4,000, still got   $16,000 ...

an example of value vs value.

this '93 is being parted although there is no  body damage, has a OEM hard top, and
has a mere 40,000 miles.  it is a Northstar car (all '93s are),

ebay item 320123808719

ignore the stickers and the crowd noise, it is NOT a PACE car, doesnt fit
the criteria and we know where the ONLY TWO real PACE cars are, we
know who drove the TWO cars, we know only ONE of the two pace
cars hit the track at the race.   Pace car defined as a car at the track at
the day of the race, certified, safety equiped and ready to run. there are no
others, only two.

the stickers were sold at the dealer to anyone that wanted them for a few bucks,
hundreds were sold and are still found for sale now and then un-used, and i bet
there are still some on dealer's shelves collecting dust.
a sticker does not make a pace car.

nevertheless, she is going piece by piece ...

value vs value of   P100004 at parting ...

maybe someone can keep track of the parts sold and compare
to the list above.

The beauty of the current declining Allante prices is that the excessive cost of parts is coming down considerably.  Remember the $3,000 Front bumpers?  Well, now you can buy a whole car, operational for less than that, take off what you need and part the rest.  Does anyone think that the bumper guy is  selling any bumpers at $3,000?

Three years ago, in 2004, the estimate was  8,000 survivors, everyone argued with me and the logic .. a well tested Ins Institute data collection was the base for what i said.  Have you seen what is going on?  i count about 3 per week being openly parted - more being done on the side, others simply being "parked" forever.

Neither an '93 or an  '88 are exempt.   As my car approaches 175,000 miles it becomes "worthless" as any  '93 would with similar mileage.

The next interesting thing that is starting to happen is  "EXPORTS."   As the cars become 15, 20, 25, 30 years old, depending on the country, that is the age of a car that can be imported and taken off American. soil.

At the current rate, the population will be around 2,000 units surviving in about 30 years, the year 2037.
Somewhere around that time, the Allante becomes "collection item" .. take good care of them we are 1/3 of the way there.  OR do as a couple of members have done .. modify the hell out of the car and enjoy it to its max.
