BODY, UNI-BODY -  The unit body floor-pan was a shortened El Dorado / Riviera floor-pan.  A more correct description is that the V-body FWD automobile platform was used twice by General Motors, the Buick Reatta & the Cadillac Allante . It was a downsized version of the E-body used in the Buick Riviera and Cadillac Eldorado. Both V-body cars were personal luxury cars and sold in limited numbers: Reatta ‘88 to ‘91 and Allante ‘87 to ‘93.

Below is a potion of a reply that I made in reference to the Allante article in the August edition of "Collectible Automotive Magazine".  Great article, and it showed pic of the competitive ( albeit unauthorized design of the Allante by GM Styling Dept.)  These GM designs seemed to have influenced the Reatta Design.  great article!

"Nice to see that both Tom and Scott got their  '93s in the mag.  Glen that portion of the "Allante that wasn't" actually was..... It was called Reatta.  Makes you appreciate just what Pininfarina accomplished!

Nice to read a historical article that wasn't critical !

Bill,

i had always known the the ElDorado and the Riviera were pretty much the same car
with different hair styles.  we all knew that the Allante shared some of the ElDorado
designs, but i had not made the connection from the Riviera to the Reatta.

these were facts that came up from the Reatta folks.  then it occurred to me that the Reatta
may share some of the same parts as the Allante ...  may.

i found it deemed to update the subject paragraph to encompass those details

as you said, i bet the same design groups, GM & Pininfarina, were involved in the
two cars.
