Hello fellow Caddians! I just purchased a 2001 DHS that is "pristine" for my wife. It has 65,000 miles, 1 owner and Carfax shows regular maintenance. After a highway trip last night, I noticed slight front end shaking (on a very smooth road), I let my hands off the wheel and the car didn't 'drift' noticably. It has brand new rubber so I 'assume' the tires are balanced and aligned. Any suggestions to what the problem might be? I would like anything fixed before my 2,000 mile warranty runs out!!! Thank you for any feedback. John S.

My OO DHS also has the vibration at 70 mph. Thanks to this and other forums about the problem, I haven't wasted any time or money trying to fix it. The two recurring themes that hold promise are a) aerodynamics and b) motor cradle mounts. Has anyone really found the culprit for this annoying problem? It's the #1 reason I have for trading in my 00 on a new Cad, to get back that magic carpet ride.

check the balancing again and alignment. also when the shop who changed the tires checks again, make them check to see if the rims are dented or bent in anyway.

Thanks for the input. Recently I had the front rotors turned. It may be my imagination, but it seemed to help.

It could also be a wheel bearing going out. Does it growl when turning?

definately read the thread above about the loose motor cradle. I have a 2001 deville with 60K and my wife started making comments about the shimmy at 65-70. We did have some problems other than the motor cradle. 1. separated tire - cooper lifeliner sle (3rd one since I purchased the set). Jerks prorated the tire would not replace for free $65 2. front rotors needed turned $30 3. After the new tire was on the car it drove like crap. took it to another tire dealer to check balance and it was 3.5 oz off!! I am beginning to dislike tire dealers. $8.50 4. Passenger side outer tie rod end is worn out - lots of play in that wheel. $87 with alinment. I could have done this one myself but for $87 why take my time. My cost for the part was $30-$50 and it only take about 15 minutes to do but it is well over 100 degrees here right now and I do not feel like sweating. The car drives pretty good now but I am following the thread about the loose cradle and will probably fabricate some brackets to mount some dogbones to my N*. My 97 deville had them and I never had a shimmy.
