Hi, I am new here and have recently bought a 1998 Cadillac Cetera.  When i was drivning it home the day I bought it, it began to overheat.  When I got it home I opened the hood ad the engine was covered with oil.  I let it cool down and checked the oil level and it was fine.  I started it back up and after about 5 minutes the oil light came on.  The oil level is fine though.  Could this be a bad oil sending unit?  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks.

Rick

I hate to say this to people but the cadillac catera was plauged with problems.  From timing belt issues to sensors and elec. issues.   But to answer your question probably the sending unit that is faulty. Oil leak could be anything from valve cover/oil cooler to cylinder heads. all problems that are common place among cateras.
