I am a bit confused. We took our cadillac in to the dealer to have the recall fixed for the water pump.

It turns out that the car also needs $2,000 worth of repairs. It has less than 65,000 miles on it.

The repairs are that the torque converter switch is stuck in the off position

Air Intake pump is not working right.

Both items have a service bulletin on them. The fella at the dealership called GM and they are going to pay half.

I just am not pleased about having to pay for major repairs on a car with so few miles.

Am I off base? Any suggestions or updates on these problems?

Are you talking about the TCC Solinoid. I have the same problem. I've been told replacing the part doesn't help.

Just another case of owner getting screwed by the Dealer. I never take my Deville to the dealer because their trained to screw you... The 90k mile checkup reccommended by the Dealer costs over $900 bucks. I got the same service done at a trusted service station that I frequent for $450.... When you go to the dealer your paying for everything you see.. free coffee, carpeted waiting room, television.. all that extra is in your bill

Make friends with a service station mechanic, preferably one who drives a Lac.... if your in Northern Va, I can give you his number! Great guy, he knows cars inside out. Tells me about the engine and chip upgrades that average mechs. don't know about.

I have OBD codes 410, 741, and 1860.

It is my understanding that code 410 is for a pump that pumps air into the catalytic converter on startup. I bought one on ebay but don't know where it is located and if it is easy to install. Anyone have any experience with this?

Codes 741 and 1860 are the torque converter circuit performance circuit or stuck off issue. My transmission seems to be fine so I am not overly enthused about getting this fixed. Does anyone have any experience getting this resolved? How much did it cost... and what was replaced (circuit, solenoid, ...?)?

Service bulletins were mentioned... Are there known defects with the secondary air pump and tcc?
