Whats up guys? I have been a little problem with my 1997 Deville with 119,000 miles. When I accerate it' I get a little jerking and hesitation around 40mph. The check engine light came on once and this problem been going on for 3-4 months. If I take the time to let the vehicle warm up it drives a little smoother. Any idea what my problem could be.

This one is my favourite because I know it well. I'm willing to bet that your wires and plugs are the original ones. With the kind of mileage you have on the clock it's time to change these. The code was probably P0301. It is easy to change these items yourself. On the back bank you need to move the coil packs/ignition module out of the way to change the back 4 plugs. Don't get cheap plugs and wires either go with GM - AC Delco replacement parts. While you are at it might as well change fuel and air filters too. This pretty much amounts to a tune up. You could also just change the plug on cylinder #1. If that works then you could get by without the others and wires. If not add a new wire to the new plug in #1 and see what happens. If you have the cash do them all.

Hey JIMRUN, just a bit of caution when doing the plugs, go easy to avoid mis-threading them. Aluminum chews up pretty easy so be sure they are in correctly when using the ratchet.
