Had to make the run to London and back again today, just under 500 km round trip. A glorious day here in Ontario, about 15 degrees but still some snow still lying at the side of the highway. A clear run from Toronto though, suuny an dry. Perfect for the WOT. My regular co-pilot on board, lovely wife of 25 years and our 18 month old Airedale sleeping on the back seat, one of three in our house. Set the DIC, Trip ok to zero, Average speed reset to zero, fuel consumption set to zero. All sytems go. When I returned home in the evening the Average speed said 121.6 km/h and fuel consumptuion 9.3 l / 100 km,that's Canadian so in Amercian that's 75 MPH and about 22 mpg. Now remember I have to drive through a City of 3,000,000 people to get to the highway about 20 minutes or so then drive around a mid sized city of about 700,000, stop for a doggy break each way, so 75 average, just think about that. At rest stop #1 I parked beside a gleaming black 2007 Escalade ESV, a couple about our age came to get in as we arrived. Had a nice chat with them, what a beautiful Vehicle. Turns out he was a GM exec and he does 1000 km a week between Oshawa and Detroit, he couldn't say enough good things about his ride. Rest stop #2 on the way back and there is a spotless white 1984 Monte Carlo SS, we had a white 1986 so that was kind of cool to see, nice memory too as my wife and I had a great road trip back in the fall of 86 up through Manitolin Island in that car, no coincidence that our first born arrived in the spring or 87! Now for the point of all of this. I tested the speed limiter in the Deville today and it works, shuts off the fuel at 180 km/h..BAMB My co-piolt said "whats wrong honey?" Oh nothing just the limiter kicking in I said. "Just like the Suburban? 160 is too fast." Well actually dear it's 180 in this car. "Now Raymond, just imagine the ticket you would get, now give me your phone so I can call home and check on the kids." I don't know if the WOT theory works but it sure is fun for 49 almost 50 year old teen ager to try. It's really fun when your co-pilot is such a good sport too.

I said it before, but it's worth saying again, you've got a great co-pilot. BTW did you try the wot theory?

ORIGINAL: G.A.R.Y. BTW did you try the wot theory? Yes, more than once, works especially well when coming onto the highway. This Caddy has so much punch you can floor it coming out of the on ramp curves, catch cars that just whizzed by, pass them and start overtaking new cars all before you megre onto the highway. Ya, I hit 172 doing this on an on ramp before mergeing in to the main roadway.
