this week something new.

i pull the '88 out of the cave, D.I.C. reports temp in the 50F's,
no problem with that.  outside it is maybe 80F or 90F, start driving
and  the D.I.C. temp is updated and climbs at the rate of 1F per minute.

it SLOOWWWWWLY climbs to 60F and stays there for awhile,
then jumps to 70F's and continues climbing until it reaches
actual ambient temp.

i know, i know, check the sensor ..
but does anyone know if  the ECM uses the same sensor for fuel mixtures?

(GM temp sensors in general. not 100% sure on your specific car)-
The ambient temp sensor is different from the intake air temp sensor.
The resistance vs temp values might be the same but the sensors are physically different.

GM didnt skimp in cost in the '88 models, so i expect
that what's in general for the GM's of the day applies
to my '88.

i guess the worst is having to wait 20 minutes for the sensor
to slowly catch up with the outside ambient.  the cave is like
cold storage.

thanks

Even late model cars can take 10 - 15 minutes to adjust from a dramatic temp difference.
