Hi  guys,, had fuel pump replaced at the Caddy dealer as it was the quickest downtime.   Is $700 out of line?   Not to mention my towing fee.  Car just reached the 85K mark.

I'm in Canada so you can adjust for exchange rates. When I owned a 92 Bonneville 3 years ago it was $750. I'd say the Bonny and the Eldo are comparable, probably the same darn pump. My mileage was about 135,000 km at the time so thats about 81,000 miles.

Well, here I am again , scratching my head on what is going on now,,, Had $700 fuel pump replaced .  Let car set out in front of dr's office for 45 min, came  back to start it and motor started with a stumble then died.   Tried 4 /5 times then motor stumbled back on to run.   Drove a few days and same issue at lunch.   I have replaced the underhood relay.   I replaced the fuel filter again, still had pressure taking it apart.      Wonder if fuel can drain back into tank while sitting??   Dealer did mention it could be a defective pump.   But why?    I am beginning to suspect the fuel bypass solenoid or what ever it is.         Anybody ??

You know I have found over the years that bad electrical connections are often the cause of these type of here today gone tomorrow problems. Check the sending unit connections. Check the fuel rail connections. It's a tough one. I'll think about it some more. Here in Canada GM guarantees work and OEM parts for one year after the work is done by their dealer. Take these guys to task.  For $700 they need to get it right for you.

Hey zdld17, do you know how to get the PCM codes from your DIS? That may help us figure it out. There is bound to be a code in there from stalling and stumbling.
