Has anyone found or tried to replace the cabin filter? Is it worth doing myself or bring it to the dealer? Any help would be appreciated.

If your 98 is similar to my 2001, here's how I did it.

The 3-piece filter was $40....the dealer wanted $120 for the job. Once I did it, I was glad I didn't pay them to do it. It helps to have the manual but not impossible without.

First you move the access panels, accelerator pedal, etc. to reach the access hole on the firewall behind the lower center IP. Access is from the D/S. Slide out each section of the filter by pulling the tabs and pay attention to how it came out to help you get the new one in. I vacuumed the hell out of the access hole after the filter was out.

Assemble the new one outside to see how it fits and how you will orient the tabs. I lubed mine with armor-all so it would slide together easier. Slide the first piece into an access hole, hold the tab and push it up so you can gently slip the next piece under it. It's tricky, you might need a long screwdriver to guide the far end inside the hole. Leave the tab from the previous one sticking down so you can tape it to the next section. This is so you can pull the filters out next time.

Repeat until all 3 sections are in there. For the 3rd section, the tab will be sticking upward instead of downward like the others. Close the access hole, button her up and your done. Takes less than 45 minutes.

Hope that helps.

Click here to find the installation instructions for your seville.  no pix but hopefully it helps.  the ac/delco part number is CF103C and you can search ebay for them and maybe find one that is decently priced.  don''t buy a no-name cheapo...there is a quality difference.
