2006 STS V8
During a hard stop due to some nimrod pulling in front of me in the fast lane I had to slam on my brakes and a few coins went into the console. I now am unable to close the ashtray. I have figured out how to remove the flocked tray but can not get the slide assembly out to remove the coins. Any help is greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Sounds like you have to remove the complete assembly. This means you will have to remove the wood trim plate then remove the radio and climate control then the ash tray assembly. It's not that hard.

Thanks for the information on how to remove the ash tray. Fortunately due so some aggressive/fun driving the coins that were blocking the tray from closing have dislodged and now it closes. At least I know there is always a few bucks for the toll or meter if I REALLY need it burried deep in the dash.

Just did it today. Remove the wood radio surround, just clips, pry carefully. Then there will be 4 screw hoding in the whole ashtray assembely. It is a few minute job.

No, never needed to remove it. The coins moved and the tray closes now.
