Hello all, I know what your going to say, "Blown head, Get a new motor", however I have purchased this car with 109,000 miles on it and can not afford to buy a new motor, yet I purchased the Thermagasket product from RX Auto of whom has guranteed that this product will work. This is the problem. I need to diagnose how the gasket blew in the first place prior to puting the product in. The heat does not come on and this car has not been touched by mechanic. Pleas help me figure out how the head blew so it does not happen again. Thanks

HELLO, first thing to do is check the radiator make sure it is clean in side if was pluged it could of caused the engine to over heat , this then causes one or both cylinder heads to warp from the overheating since they are aluminuim you will need to find out which side it is and remove head and have it checked for strightness and repair it then is stall anew head gasket you may have to use new headbolts, the overheating may have happend before you bought the car it is hard to tell hope this helps Chuck .

I have a 97 STS with the exact same problem as tomaxx, no local mechanic will touch the engine, the Cadillac dealership, says to get rid of the car and that putting the bolts back in there's a 50/50 shot that it'll hold and keep it from running hot, so the work is not guaranteed, there's no way im getting rid of my baby i'm in it for the long haul. i'm thinking about gettin a new engine, so if anyone has done this or had this problem all comments would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Gm is sending a mechanic on wednesday to inspect my car to see if the heating core exploding was due to the faulty headgaskets, i really do beleive so due to everything i've read and all the stories i've heard of the 94-97 sts blowing the bolts, and also the fact that gm doesnt even make that engine anymore, i'll post again after the inspection and let y'all know what went down. If anyone has had any experience with this please post thanks.

Exactly right, the heat was gettint through the thread or gasket whichever was leaking and the heat is so damn hot it bust out through what ever is weakest in the cooling system, when the heating core busted the first thing i felt was something burn my foot and then the vents started shooting out smoke, that was the firs time, the second time after the core was replaced the radiator busted due to the heat, hopefully gm replaces my engine, do you know what causes the threads to pull initially.
