Ok so the codes are telling me the Transmission Range Switch Circuit and the right front cvrss fault.  Would the transmission range switch circuit have anything to do with the car taking forever to crank over? And where can I find one of these switches?

Hey there:  I see that you got your codes out o.k.  The trans. switch may be sourced at usapartssupply.com ad your local parts shop may be able to get it as well. About your starting issue, it might be related to the timing. Do you have a TPS (throttle position sensor)on your car. If you have fuel injection, not on the carbuerator models. The sensor is adjustable and it tells the ECM what position the throttle is in so it can adjust the timing. Is your car front wheel drive???

Yes its a fuel injected car and fwd , a 96 Deville.  What  exactly does the transmission range circuit do? I've never heard of it in my life.

Your range sensor circuit is in touch with the ECM and according to engine speed, load, and vehicle speed, it will shift the gears for the operating conditions. It should be an external part and fairly easy to change. Check the connection and wires first to see if the part is faulty. Your other code must be a sensor on the constant velocity joint area. Could very well be the shudder source.

I  really  appreciate the help, any idea where it is?  The cv joints don't look like theyre torn, I'll probably end up taking it to a front end shop.  Would the transmission range circuit cause hard starting?

To the best of my knowledge the range circuit would not cause hard starting. When you start the car do you press your foot of the accellerator at all?? If you have the HEI ignition yo should leave your foot off the accelerator when starting as this can change the timing parameters. The ECM will take care of everything. See if this helps the starting. Worth a try.
