Big time! A pool in the spare wheel well a small dog could drown in.  Anyone with some idea of how so much water could get into the trunk area like that?  Of course you don't check an area like that very often but I could smell it then I checked and found the pool.  How do I trace it from the outside without stripping the entire truck liner?

My 06 STS was leaking into the well too. Had it back to the dealer 3 times. They have a 'leak' specialist in every Weds. Yes, they stripped the entire trunk out, dried it out, then sprayed the car with a hose.  They resealed every metal seam there was, resealed all weatherstrips,  and taped the wiring harness because it was being pinched into the weatherstrip/closure.  It still leaked. 2 weeks later they did it all again. This time they said it was the right taillight assy. That fixed it. 2 weeks later I was back for them to replace all the soggy smelly carpeting, rusty jack and handle, and rusty spare tire wheel. I check it every so often and its still dry. I don't know about the 01 STS but in the 06 all that trunk lining comes out in a few mins.

Thanks.  Must have been leaking so long that it became somewhat attached to the metal but yes I finally pulled all the carpet out and it was pretty quick I will get at it with the hose when the weather is warmer (currect 2 degrees F) and get in the trunk with a flash light and see where it comes in.
