Hi,

Past viewer of this forum, but have not been around for a while. My question is: I have a 04 SRX V6 with the stock wheels and tires with pressure monitoring. Not sure what the problem is. I live in the Chicagoland area, so you know what the weather is like. Anyway, when the air temperature changes about ten to fifteen degrees the air pressure in the two of the tires drops about ten pounds. The monitoring system detects the pressure lose and notifies the driver via the info center. Have anyone seen anything like this. Not sure if it is the tire or the wheels. Any information will be helpful.

Thanks in advance...

this is the time of year we reset tire pressures that were adjusted during the summer.

Colder overnight temps cause lower pressure which triggers your light.

We see 5 - 10 cars with your concern right after our first cold snap(not all that cold compared to you)

I have an '04 SRX as well (V8) with 18" tires. Does anyone know if there would be a problem with downgrading to 17" wheels and tires. 18's are pretty pricey and wear out quickly.

I thought it was common knowledge that Tires loose a bit of air when it is cold and gain a bit when it is hot.  Check the pressure once a week to keep in check and save yourself a little gas in the end.
