Greetings all who venture here! My hobby/extra spending money comes from traditional Blacksmithing. I do it the old way, with a coal forge and hand held hammer and anvil. Started when I was about 15 and the bug never quite biting me. I do alot of ornamental railing and gate works along with sculptures, repairs, and recently started a line of furniture. Plan on doing this full time when I retire in a couple years. I do several benefit demonstrations throughout the year also. Blakoak

Blakoak I had a few guys work for me doing ornamental iron and crystal chandeliers, using a gas fired oven and hammer and anvil. they had the most massive arms I had ever seen .. impressive. I always respected someone that could stand by that inferno heat all day long even on 100F days. welcome to our site you got pictures? .

I do my work the old fashioned way, with a coal forge. The newer gas forges are a faster heat, but there is just something about the smell of coal as it cokes down! I''ll see if I can dig up a photo or two. Blakoak
