A friend of mine just had an oil change in his 68 Caddy with a 472. When the shop went to start it up after the service, it had no oil pressure. I watched the entire service and they simply drained the oil replaced the filter and added new oil. According to the shop, it is not their fault it lost prime. Another shop told me teh 472 is required to have oil poured into the new filter prior to installing it. Can anyone tell me if priming the filter is required by GM or is it just coincedence that it happend? Thanks

Then again, it wont hurt to fill the oil filter. .
