The normals low oil level, bad sender, worn bearings. Other possibles balancer bolt not torqued to spec.(no key way for oil pump, depends on bolt forcing balancer against oil pump gear and primary timing gear on crank) pump pressure relief valve getting hung open by foreign material. Check with mechanical gauge.

Does the light come on while you are stopping or when you have stopped and the engine is idling?

For 1. Low oil level, oil moves away from pickup in sump.
For 2. Idle speed is too slow to pump oil at normal pressure.

I was leaning towards idle too low as well. You can also try a slightly heavier weight oil.

Had that issue at a hot engine idle and it was a cheap brand oil filter. Try DELCO next time. This is assuming that your brother did check pressure with a mechanical oil gauge.

Excellent point on cheap white box and no name parts. Same goes for oil used. Some of these $19.99 oil changes are using oil that is thinner than cooking oil. Name brands only way to go with oil and filter.

Most name brand oil filters have some sort of check valve to hold oil pressure, unlike a generic white box one.
