My 1988 Fleetwood was hit while parked on the street by a teenager with a learners permit.

I need to replace the left Side View Mirror (power mirror), and I have found a replacement. I am hoping that someone will be so kind to tell me how to install the mirror. For instance, do I need to take the door apart? Any advice you can give me would be most appreciated. I thank you in advance for helping fix my Fleetwood.

I don''t know you car well enough but this is usually a pretty straight forward replacement. Generally you will see a triangular piece of trim directly opposite the mirror, inside the car. This is the piece that has to come off. It is held on by white plastic retainers. You can get it off without breaking them but if you do break them the local parts store will have them, probably 15 cents each. Use a large blade flat screw driver to pry off the trim piece. There will be three nuts holding the mirror in place usually and the cord with a connector.

Replacement is just the reverse of removal.

On the other hand if there is not a triangular piece to remove you may have to take off the inside door panel. Again not a big deal, same plastic retainers hold it on, plus a few screws in well concealed places like under door pulls for example. Just go slow and be patient.

I replace mirrors for my staff all the time right in our office parking lot, and yes it is always the drivers side popped off by someone driving by too close.
