Hello eveyone,
Seems my 04 CTS 3.6 had developed what sounds like a noisy lifter or valve ticking near the passenger side of the eng.  Car only has about 40K on the clock, but my warranty has expired. Took it to the Caddy Dealership and they said it is just a noisy lifter that develops on some of the motors and is normal. Sounds like b.s., but I would ike to know what some of your opinions might be. Has anyone else experienced a noisy lifter/valve, etc? Thanks in advance for any input.

A lifter noise upon cold start and lasting maybe 5 min. is what I consider normal. A lifter noise at operating temperature is abnormal and will possibly prematurely wear other valve train parts. Is the dealer doing ALL the oil changes? if not are you using the GM oil filter? I ask because some generic oil filters have no residual pressure so lifter drain back can be an issue.
