Hi just bought the 4.6 97 eldorado 98 k miles and it takes 4-5 cranks to start it... and has slight gas smell while doing it. When i get it started it has a rough idle... i noticed its not as bad if the car is on a hill face up if that helps. The car does not overheat so... i hope it not a HG... hoping its just bad fuel filter, injectors, or carbone build up... i really dont now... if anyone thinks any of these ideas are right, or know what is wrong please tell me.

Well, for a start, you might wanna check out my thread in the Eldorado section for a "1997 Eldo starting problem" .Several members have offered me their advice on what they thought my starting problem was, and they seem to be knowledgable people. I just dropped the fuel tank today ( sunday, April 20 ) and replaced the fuel pump, but I won't know for sure if that fixed my starting problem till the wife drives it to work this week and then I will post the results on that thread. As for your fault codes, the P603 is a PCM memory reset, and the p 1153 is the bank 2 oxygen sensor . My 97 Eldo seems to set an Oxy sensor code every time I fill the tank with a different brand of gas. As for the 4 BCM codes, I can't seem to find my BCM code list, but I am sure that someone else on here can help you with them. There is a lot of helpful information on this site by some good people if you just take a few minutes to search for it. Hope this helps .

sorry for not putting anything back up broke my laptop... after removing the cover from the engine i found a little orange seal partially blown off under intake manifold...which im guessing is causing a vacum leak... i am no mechanic but is there a reason why this would have blown off and would it be the cause for the hard starting..? also when starting when its off over night in moring before going to work when its colder out it seams to start right up if that helps
o and btw i got another code p0303 which is cylinder 3 misfire i think only came up once since clearing codes and i appreciate the replies.
