325 4L shifts too soon

I own a low mileage (80,000) 84 Eldorado 4100. Runs and drives great as long as I stay below 60 MPH. If I drive a distance of 25 miles at a constant 70 MPH then coming to the first stop, the engine bogs, shudders a little bit then smooths out waiting for the light. When leaving the light the trans shifts early and harsh. I then drive it in town below 60 and after, say, three stops, it shifts normally again. I've monitored it thru diagnostics as driven so I know the TCC is engaging and disengaging when it should electrically. I have the FSM and it all points to a sticky governor. I would like further imput from someone that might have experienced the same symptom. Thanks! I hope I've helped someone here with prior posts so now I'm in need.

I will give you the Dick Hussey solution to a lot of the transmissions woes ..
pour a 24 oz bottle of Lucas, drive it tonight, call me in the morning.

Are you monitoring rpm when tcc light shows tcc disengaging? Does rpm increase on display when tcc is released, if not tcc solenoid maybe sticking on. When this happens tcc will be engaged when trans shifts to second and disengage when trans down shifts to first. THM 200R4 will act the same way if tcc solenoid sticks on. TCC is hydraulically disabled in first gear.

Thanks slowroll. I will do this tonight. Stealth, I did the 24 oz Lucas yesterday, no change. I changed the governor because it was so easy but no change. I paid $5.00 for it at Pick n Pull. I usually caution not to throw parts at a problem but in this case a $5.00 governor was worth the gamble.

I want to thank slowroll for the instructions. I verified no RPM change thru on board diagnostics. Replaced the TCC solenoid yesterday inside the trans valve body  . Working flawlessly!! Now while lightly holding the throttle and with my left foot tapping on the brake pedal as driven, I can feel the disengagement. Thanks again. Great forum!!
