ok .. I'm sitting around waiting for a call .. so what do I do in the meantime?

dig up some S H I T ?

==========================

origins?  myths?

==========================

Certain types of manure used to be transported (as everything was back then) by ship. In dry form it weighs a lot less, but once water (at sea) hit it. It not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by-product is methane gas.
As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen; methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern. BOOOOM!
Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was discovered what was happening.
After that, the bundles of manure where always stamped with the term "S.H.I.T" on them which meant to the sailors to "Ship High In Transit." In other words, high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

==============

In the 1800's, cow pie's were collected on the prarie and boxed and loaded on steam ships to burn instead of wood. Wood was not only hard to find, but heavy to move around and store.
When the boxes of cow pie's were in the sun for days on board the ships, they would smell bad. So when the manure was boxed up, they stamped the outside of the box, S.H.I.T....which means Ship High In Transit.
When people came aboard the ship and said,"Oh what is that smell!"
They were told it was "S H I T"
That is where the saying came from...It smells like s h i t!

==============

In the Army, officers who did not go to West Point have been known to disparage the military academy as the South Hudson Institute of Technology .. S.H.I.T. .

==============

if an angelic six-year-old asks, "Would you like to have some Sugar Honey Iced Tea?", the safest course is to pretend that you have suddenly gone stone deaf.

C.R.A.P.
The four golden rules of site design.

Contrast
Repetition
Alignment
Proximity

  • Contrast
    Elements that aren’t the same should be very different so they stand out, making them “slightly different” confuses the user into seeing a relation that doesn’t exist. Strong contrast between page elements allows the user’s eye to flow from one to another down the page instead of creating a sea of similarity that’s boring and not communicative.

  • Repetition
    Repeat styles down the page for a cohesive feel — if you style related elements the same way in one area, continue that trend for other areas for consistency.

  • Alignment
    Everything on the page needs to be visually connected to something else, nothing should be out of place or distinct from all other design elements.

  • Proximity
    Proximity creates related meaning: elements that are related should be grouped together, whereas separate design elements should have enough space in between to communicate they are different.

 A bird was flying south for Winter, but he had left it too late and was frezing in a storm.

He dropped down into a pasture of cows. The biggest, fattest cow was doing a crap there, and the frozen bird landed in it.
At first he was disgusted, until he realised the poo was thawing him out!

He started crying out for joy as the ice melted.

A cat that was nearby heard the cries, walked over, saw the bird and ate it

There are three morals to this story: 1. Not everyone who gets you into s#!t is your enemy 2. Not everyone who gets you out of s#!t is your friend 3. If you are in s#!t, keep your mouth shut
