Just purchased a high mileage 91 Allante phase 2 convertable. The forward edge of the fibreglas top boot, over the years, had shown some ragged edges probably from trying to lift it prior to removal of the mini covers (DUH !). Rather than smooth these edges and then repainting the entire boot cover, I got "U" shaped black door edge guards that are plastic and conform to the compound curves at the covers forward edge. It matches the black plastic around the lowered quarter windows and looks, I think, as if factory. The ones I got were approx 4 inches too long which was perfect. Allowed me to trim to exact length. Hope this might help someone. Two door edge guards $4.00, one beer $1.50 results : priceless!!

Spend another buck and a half for another beer and see if you can post some pics of that fix. Sounds good, would like to see it if possible. G.A.R.Y.

Bill, having acquired my latest .. a '92 triple balck .. I'm starting to clean the car up, one item at the time. There are so many little things that if I think about it, I might feel overwhelmed. Everywhere I look and touch there is something that needs attention. However, back to the soft cover, last evening I decided that the grey cover (Triple Black) simply didnt cut it in today's world of automobiles. As of last night, the soft cover is gloss BLACK, keeping the texture it had, and now it looks awesome, specially with the mini-covers in place which also got painted ... your solution may also help those cars that are missing the donut that goes around the pull-down. what do you think? There are several such cars out there, missing the donut. thanks for the idea ...

I dont think the guard allows that much flexability? Regarding the pictures, dont have access to a digital camera at home #1 and at my advanced age, I dont have a clue how to connect them to this site?#2. STEALTH, your car sounds like mine. Slowly doing the cosmetics now that the brakes work, the thermostat gets the engine to temperature, all the lights work, the parking brake fully releases and the rear OXY sensor was finally replaced after 138,000 miles! etc, etc. Unlike my 88 which I sold because I was reluctant to have the odometer roll past 65,000 miles, I can drive this car and not concern myself with miles racked up.

Bill, i was lucky .. mine came with a rem GM ABS system .. the car runs like a wild horse on a chase. but she looks like the bushes and rocks didnt get out of the way. I am trying to get used to all the lighting on the digital cluster, I rather enjoyed my analog clusters on the other cars. you are correct .. cosmetics are on the list along with the mandatory SMOG ! today she got new shoes and returned to the OEM rims. maybe in a month or two she will come out for pictures. what color scheme is your '91 ?
