It just dawned on me that i havent had the timing adjusted since ive had my car. Ive drove it about 35k miles. How often are you supposed to get the timing adjusted? Its a 89' Fleetwood 4.5 FWD. About how much does it cost to get the timing adjusted?

you live in Florida, car gets SMOG test .. right?

if it passes the SMOG, LEAVE IT ALONE.

The SMOG technician adjusts the timing as needed each time it goes in for test.

Timing normally does not to be adjusted, only checked if there is a drivability problem.

A GM drivetrain Eng once said to me:  "after 100,000 miles, the timing chains doesnt owe you anything"
Interpreted as: check it for slack and change it if worn.  ITS NASTY when the chain goes and the engine is doing rpm's.

That is not what ignition timing is for.
