Hey whenever i check my tranny fluid theres a lot of dirt that comes on the rag when i wipe it. I cant see the dirt when i pull the dip stick out, its only when i wipe that i see it. Its not leaking any fluid. Its been like this for a couple years i think. But now its starting to slip sometimes, usually once or twice a day. And when it shifts gears mainly between 1st and 2nd and 3rd it reves high then shifts. Yall think im bout to have a big tranny bill on my hands? Its the 4.5L FWD 89'

BAD NEWS .. is not dirt but clutch material .. my guess is that the clutches are disintegrating. once they start slipping the grind away FAST.

Probably your best bet and value is to find a used trani and switch them.
Overhauls are EXPENSIVE.

oh ok thanks. I always wanted to put a bigger engine in my car when the time came to replace the trani. If i do decide to do an engine swap you think i should stick with a caddy engine, Dosent cadillac make like a 341 or somethin.
