Anyone here know of someone or themselves ran nitrous or a power adder onto a N* I have a guy looking into some software to tune the pcm but if he doesnt come through im going to use a wet kit and spray 100.

NOS has always been the cheap HP. It works. 75 to 150 shot.

Now we need a N* tech to chime in for any tips.

However before a tech will answer post the year miles, etc. of the motor.

Good luck.

Can never get enough HP for me.

Its a 97 sts, with 8k on the new( reman) whatever you would like to call them engine, from a gm dealership. Yea I would love and be happy with a 13 sec sts.....I will make it happen

How many main bearings does the northstar have? If you only have 3 mains like I do I would bet money you would brake a crankshaft unless it is forged, maybe. lol.

Because when I was flipping through the specs to find out how many gallons of coolent to refill (replace radiator) I had to laugh when I saw that it listed 3 main bearing on the 4.5 V8 with a iron crankshaft in my 90 deville.

Most modern V type engines have main bearing between every pair of connecting rods 5 main bearings V8, 4 main bears V6, L6 can have either 7 or 4 mains, L4 5 or 3 mains. Flat 4 (VW) 3. All Cadillac V8s have 5 main bearings. This includes 4.5L

I haven't taken off my oil pan to double check, but my owners manual list 3 in the specs.

Thats why I laughed when I read 3 main bearings in the specifications.

Maybe they were'nt counting the two on the ends.

If you haven't done this already I would say go with the nitrous ( I don't think you can find much else for the N* anyway). If you use a 100hp wet shot you should be pretty safe and less likely to have knock which can be common with SC'ers. I've seen more engines blown with SC'ers and Turbo's than with nitrous.

If you need a kit let me know I can probably save you some money on a good quality kit.

I ran a 150 shot in my el camino after dropping in a zz4 crate motor. Ran the crap out of it, far as I know she is still runnin. Safe and cheap hp.

That's what I'm talking about, with the right system set up right you can run it for a long time. I sprayed 250 on a SBC 355 for about two years with basicly no problems. I had a 150 shot on my '99 Camaro when it was bone stock with no problems.
