Cadillac Allante Deck Lid  bulb 892
1987 to 1992
1993 - the Owner's Manual also calls for the 892...

The 892 12V HALOGEN is the proper bulb.  It is a 16 Watt bulb, also used in farm equipment, snow blowers and misc equipment.  Expect to pay from $10 to $20 for one. Mine is the original OEM, going on 20 years old with no problems.  They last.

Do not use the 890, 893, etc .. the wattage is way too high and will melt the lens.   The lens requires a 16 Watt bulb or less.

If anyone needs a GE-892 brake light bulb try Daniel Stern Lighting at 1 866 861-8668 or 416 766-2327 or email dastern@torque.net. The price of was under $10 each, plus S & H, in Feb '06..

Other part numbers for the 892 are :

MTD-725-1645 12V 16W
81472  892 FOG/TRACTOR 12V HALOGEN

part #   81472, 892 FOG/TRACTOR 12V HALOGEN

 Tail Light Arrays bulbs

The proper bulb is 2057 with a BRASS base

Do NOT use the 1057.  The1057 bulbs are hotter and tend to damage/melt the light arrays.

The nickel bases tend to be cheaper, short lasting and a bit hotter.
Make sure the sockets are well installed, locked into place.

Should the mechainc fail to lock them into place, they WILL pop out and melt your $500 Tail Light Array.

The third brake bulb is also found in early Sunbird convertables without luggage rack. I have 2 spares from wrecks.

1987, 1988 I believe? Its the ones with the lamp mounted behind the top, not inside the car.

Another part of the tail light system is the park light. The park light is also used as the brake light. It had the largest part on the tail light assembly which automatically turns on when the driver hits the brake or if the headlight is turned on.
