Status: offline I have a 1980 eldorado. When I try to start it it says starter disabled due to security system. Help please.

I have a 1995 Seville that had the same problem The security system light kept coming on and "wait 3 minutes" and when the "start car" showed...the starter wouldn't even turn over....I found the fix here on the forum...we clipped 2 wires connected to a plug at the base of the steering column that leads to the ignition and soldered the wires of a new resister (make sure correct olms) into the plug....essentially bypassing the resister in the key. Car started right up and security system still works. The new resister cost 2 cents....saving hundreds of dollars. You may still we able to find the posting that we found here. Hope this info helps you or someone else out there.
