I have have a situation with my new 2005 Escalade and I was hoping that someone here might be able to provide me with some information or advice. My Escalade was stolen last month but since I purchased LoJack it was recovered several days later. The dealership was working on it and noticed that there had been a VIN switch. The police removed the vin from the dash, glove box, and doors, and now there are no visible VIN numbers being displayed. The California Highway Patrol said that they can verify the vin and put a note on the drivers door that shows they verified the correct VIN but the car will be without a VIN on the dash, glovebox, and doors. I have been told by the mechanics at the dealership that b/c of this the car has lost at least 1/2 of its value and I should demand that my insurance give me a new car.
Has anyone here ever heard of someone having a VIN switch on their car and getting it back after?
Does anyone know what my car is worth now?

The title will be "tainted " from now on, I would insist on a new vehicle. It will hurt your value by a minimum of 25%. If you just look at eBay, you can readily see the price difference.

Hey,
I had my 2000 stolen last year it was gone for almost 3 weeks. Any way just to let you know your lo-jack system is not worth the money. They can de-activate ANY of those GPS type devices with a magnet pulse. I had a kill switch installed and I advise everyone who owns one to do the same .
