I have a 93 Seville and ever since i got it its had a loud rattling noise when u accelerate, and it sounds like its somewhere between the rear axel and the transmission.  Any ideas on what it could be?

cats with broken innerds,
or
cats with rattling heat shields

Yes, the cats seem to crack at the inlet and oulets too. If the heat sheild is rattling around I've seen guys put together a few large diamenter hose clamps and wrap that around them as opposed to tearing the shield off.

Ok so the heat shield is a definate possibility , but on my car it seems that the catalytic converter is farther up towards the front of the car than the noise sounds like it should be, but do you thionk that it could just appear that way due to the noise echoing throught the exhaust pipe.

Hey Caddy: If you have a heat shield above your muffler you could possible have some small rocks sitting on top rattling around. I found that was my problem on a GMC Safari. Sounds too simple I know but worth a try. You could also check for a worn U-Joint, shake tha driveshaft to check for play.

So i took my car in to goodyear today for an oil change and i asked if they could check out the rattle, turned it it was just a loose grommet on the exhaust.  I guess it was a lot more simple then i'd even expect
