Hi my name is Llogan. I am new to the Cadillac forum and was just wandering if anybody owns the Deville? If so I was just wandering if anyone would mind providing some information about it. I was just wandering what model do you own. Does it seem to be holding out pretty good. Does it seem to be a good vehicle. Do you get lots of compliments on it. What is the gas mileage on the Deville that you own.What kind of features does your Deville provide?

Greetings.
This is my first Cadillac:
2001 DeVille DHS. Pearl ext/Gray int. All the goodies.
I have had the car for about a month; so far so good - it runs great. However there is one small thing - during cold starts the engine revs higher than usual for a few moments and then settles down to normal idle rpm. This has caused the car to "jerk" about a few times when back down the drive way. Is this normal for Cadillacs w/ NorthStar engine?

Hi. sorry it took so long to get back to you. It could be just the Northstar engine. I have noticed in my Aunts 2003 GMC Envoy XL with 4.7L V6 that when she starts it when its cold the engine revs higher then when it warms up and you shift into drive then it goes back to regular rev.

Thanks. Although both vehicles are from the "General Motors family"; I think the NorthStar may have a few characteristics not found in GMC Envoy engines - hard to compare the two. Although I am so far happy with me DeVille; the perception is General Motors does not build quality automobiles. I just hope this is not a bad omen of things to come.

Thats probably about right but I can tell you that the Deville has losts more characterisitcs than the GMC Envoy XL. Although the GMC is nice I still like the DeVille the best. But when I buy a car or SUV I want an SUV or car that has power and lots of it. I want an SUV or car the has excellent acceleration and excellent passing power. Is the passing power good on the Deville? Well I guess thats about all for now. Keep me updated on your Deville.

MY DHS has the 275 hp NorthStar motor. On the NJ turnpike it can go from a standing stop to 85-90 MPH extremely fast. Lots of torque for merging and excellent top end - nominal cruising speeds come in around 101-103 mph. At this speed cabin is still quiet enough to enjoy Mozart recital. Car is very solid and effortless in acceleration.

I test drove a 2001 DTS (300 hp motor). The only difference I could tell between the DTS and the DHS is that the DTS transmission "winds up" faster...the DHS is a bit more composed during all out blasts up to triple digit speeds. I guess this is because the DTS motor will rev higher. Nothing finer than enjoying Mozart at 101 mph on a straight piece of road with the power massage heated seat gently caressing the troubles away.

Just completed an 8 hour round trip tour to Lancaster (from south Jersey area). My 2001 DHS performed magnificently.

When cruizing at speed through the pastoral amish country side the NorthStar with its dual exhaust system produces the most exquisite yet powerful growl; reminding us this Cadillac is no slouch. Yet at the same time we are meticulously pampered by lumbar massage leather seats, melodious sounds from the BOSE CD player and zebrano wood accents. The DHS allowed us to leave lesser automobiles far behind as we tooled through countryside taking in the sites.

We arrived at our destinations without the slightest hint of distress or wearyness. Looking forward to the next outing.
