Default Check engine light

Can anyone tell me how to check the codes on a 2006 STS, my check engine light came on due to the engine oil level getting low, I filled the oil but the check engine light is still on. I'm hoping that I haven't caused any engine damage, the car seems to be running fine and isn't over heating but want to check the code, if anyone can advise me how to do so, would greatly appreciate it.

Your local Cadillac dealership's service department should be able to provide you with the information about the code on the vehicle.

Any AutoZone parts store will do a code scan for free. Be SURE to get a copy of the code(s) for reference.
