Charging Delay
I have a 1997 SLS and whenever I start my car especially when cold the battery indicator light will appear and the in dash volt meter reads 11.8-12.1ish or no charge after starting, it hangs around that for roughly 30 seconds to a minute then it recovers and the alternator charges it normally, I also have had really hard starts on cold mornings recently when it is maybe 40 degrees out, the battery is new, drop tested fine and reads fine with a volt meter on the terminals, checked the terminals also they are clean, I was wondering if any one else has had an issue similar I'm unsure on whether it would be a bad alternator, voltage regulator or an ignition issue or even something else.
-thanks for any and all help.

Check condition of battery cables to wire part in particular. Positive battery posts tended to leak acid cause in wire to corrode within casing. It maybe normal if burping throttle corrects it, the increase in rpm helps excite stator promoting charging.
