Can you pull lock cylinder w/o key?
#3
Slowroll: Actually I do have the original key but it's so very badly worn that it no longer comes out of lock . I have all the guts out of the column but I can't get the key to put the cylinder to accessory mode to pull the cyl. per the service manual.(I can't seem to get the key code for my 1988 neither...too old). Thanks! Larry
PS:I don't have a VATS key just the old style ign. key

you dont have a spare key?
some advice for the rest .. have one made and place with the car's title. its a whole lot cheaper to pay $15 for a tucked-away key than to deal with a replacement of a cylinder or worst. In fact, AAA will make a FREE credit card key (no VATS) that can be used to make a real key or even to start the car.
the 1989 Allante had the 1st VATS, when did the rest of the Cadillac line followed?

Stealth: I don't have a spare key and the key I do have is so-o-o worn that there is virtually no teeth on the business end! Made a copy of it ...doesn't work. As posted earlier I am trying to get the lock cylinder out. So far I can't. Thanks! larry

here is a cheaper solution .. call a locksmith .. they can and will make a key to fit. somehow, they can get a blank into the cylinder and tag it with the lock tumblers in the cylinder, then cut the key.
if you got AAA, they will cover the 1st $100 or so.
I had one done, cost was $150.
