Default Oil Burning

Can anyone HELP me with this problem I have a 2000 STS my car burns oil every 1500 thousand mile after I get the oil change. I went to 3 different shops they tell me that job is about $2,500 to $3,000 to fix that oil burning. To much money

We (Caddy dealer) do a piston ring cleaning procedure that clears up the oil burning.
I think its around 300 - 400 bucks.

Can you explain to me why the STS leaks oil so much? Or is that more of a "Northstar" thing? You'd think they'd come out with a fix for it.

I am just a fellow '97 STS owner...

There's leak and there's burning, but both are pertinent to NS. Some engines might develop some leak, but it's more like seapage or "sweating" at the case half seal, and the reseal is major bucks.

On the other hand most NSs burn oil, and one suspected reason is carbon build-up and stuck rings due to "Little-Old-Lady-Who-Is-Not-From-Pasadena-Type-Driving". A DIY version and an alternative to what FLCaddytech suggests is an occasional WOT in second gear from around 35-40 mph to redline, let it slow down in 2nd, then do it again a few times.

Another explanation is that it's "by design", that is because the NS is a high-performance engine, it has agressive cylinder honing, lots of oil to circulate, therefore some oil loss is expected, ... if you buy that.
