What is a P039/Torque Converter code?
Hello all,
I have a P039 code, on a 1994 Seville SLS which, according to the manual is a torque converter clutch not shifting. I have checked the tranny, and it is good on fluid, but I am going to change it. I was hoping to find out; 1st Is this a major problem? Because the tranny shifts just fine, and I have no shudders, or problems of any kind with it operating properly. 2nd I have a bit of a rattle when going over bumps, but it seems to be a strut/tie rod rattle not a tranny, but just trying to cover all bases; are these related or not. And finally, how much time would I have on this before it becomes a major problem, if it would. Like I say, the tranny seems to shift just fine, but, it is throwing the code. Thanks for the advice.

to drive it until it becomes a problem beyond a code can be both expensive and dangerous.
after you know what it is, you can decide if it is an irritation or a serious issue that needs taking care.
