Default power windows/locks

I recently bought a 1999 sls
on the drivers side all the button work except the one that locks the windows. Pass. side the window will roll up but not down. The lock button will not do anything. Back driver side the window will roll up but not down. The lock button will not work. Back Pass. side the window button will not do anything but the power lock button will allow you to lock but not un lock.
Any ideas at all what might the problem???? Also my umbreall rack will no move forward or backwards

You need new switches.

If I read your post right you have window and lock problems. They are seperate circuits so not related problem imo.

You can check the switches by transferring the good ones to the doors that are malfunctioning. Drivers switch can't go anywhere however. This will tell you. If you look on eBay you will find hundreds of used Cadillac switches, Why? because they are notorious for going bad.

First, the rear lock buttons do not by design unlock the doors. They can ONLY lock them.

Otherwise, the door lock and window wiring is quite complicated and involves a number of different electonic modules throughout the car. Problem could be poor connections, blown fuse(s), faulty switch(es), broken wiring, faulty door module(s) or faulty integration module(s).

Many different faults in these circuits will be detected and will not only set a trouble code but also compensate for the problem. Such compensation could result in apparent problems throughout the system as you seem to find. You'll likely need an enhanced scan tool, a DMM, some basic hand tools, a service manual and decent skills to identify and repair the problem.
