Default Normal Operating Temp 01-04 Seville

Hi ... Does anyone know what the normal operating tempature should be ... I have had my car into the dealer for about a month now. It continues to overheat, in my opnion. I have a SnapOn Diag OBD II computer on it, so when I go up a hill the temp reaches between 230 and 242 depending on how fast I drive up the hill...

Normal city driving is about 224 to 228, the needle frequently goes above the halfway mark...

The dealer tells me that it's not overheating unless the DIC tells me it is..

Thx ..

In the Northstar engine temperatures of 220 degrees areconsidered normal. Not to alarm you but I would say that getting much over 225 constantly is pointing to something probably not right. Could be as simple as a weak water pump or fans not kicking in because you say the speed at which you climb hills affects temperature.. The limp home mode engages at 248 degrees I believe. To be certain would suggest that when it gets to 235 - 240 you should probably shut it off and let it cool down.

This vehicle has had 2 water pumps already ... The dealer recently rodded the radiator. The 228 is city driving .. and the 230 - 242 is climing a hill, aprox 90 outside, with the air on ... I think I am going to have to get the factory or the BAR involved on this one. Do you know of anywhere I can find docs to show that it is too hot.

What does the owners manual say? Do a search on this forum and print off what you find, take them my answer and any other's you find.

Just by way of an update I had a long highway run yesterday evening and I put the DIC on temperature just to see. I switched it to imperial measure since the default is metric here.I saw temperatures from 192 to 201 depending on driving condition but running steady it was solid on 196. Wheather was about 64 degrees and clear, set AC to come on at the outisde temp so it was on and off as needed.

New to the forum so I sent my message to a new "thread". I've got the same problem... see "Seville overheating" thread. Thanks. Reading this thread really was informative.
